Vilcabamba ubicada en la provincia de Loja, se encuentra a 40Km de la capital lojana donde para llegar a este hermoso rincón se toma un bus desde el terminal de la ciudad.
Vilcabamba proviene del quichua Huilcopamba que significa "planicie del árbol sagrado".
Vilcabamba se establecio como parroquia de Loja el 29 de Mayo de 1861 y la UNESCO en el 2007 decreta a Vilcabamba ser parte de la reserva de la Biosfera Podocarpos - El Cóndor.
